Preseli Circle
Self-guided circular walking route
7 Nights

The Preseli Circle walking trail is unique in it’s variety of magnificent landscapes, rural wilderness, archaeological discovery and the distinct culture of the North Pembrokeshire peoples.
From the Preseli hills, to the river valleys of the Gwuan, Nyfer, Cych and Teifi and the surrounding ancient woodlands to the coastal cliffs, beaches and estuaries of the Pembrokeshire coastal path. This land will speak to you, of its people and of its heritage and will invite you into its enchanting past; ancient burial tombs, Ogham scripted standing stones, C6 saints and tales of King Aurthur and the Mabinogian.

The trail begins at Fishguard and retreats into the isolated timelessness of the Gwaun valley. Climbing out of the Gwaun valley the mystery of the Preseli Hills unfolds with memories of ancient peoples and prehistoric sites. Leaving the hills for Crymych, some of the redundant Cardi Bach railway tracks are followed into the Teifi gorge at Cilgerran and onto the estuary at Cardigan. The beginning of the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path at Poppit sands marks the return trek Westwards with spectacular walking along the cliffs of Cemais head and the cosy refreshment hives of Newport to welcome. Dinas headland leads the final day out to Lower town Fishguard completing a journey truly worth making.
